🚀 Getting Started

When you first launch the game, you'll be walked through an introductory battle and given the chance to select a free ★5 character. This choice matters — pick wisely based on the playstyle you want to build around.

What to Do First
  • Select your free ★5 — Attackers are recommended for beginners as they clear content fastest.
  • Link your account — Connect a Google, Apple, or social login immediately to protect your progress.
  • Start the Main Story — Follow the main quest chain to unlock features and earn Dimensional Crystals.
  • Claim all login rewards — Check the inbox and event tab for free resources waiting to be claimed.
Reroll tip: If you're unhappy with your free ★5 selection or your early pulls, new accounts can reroll by clearing app data and starting fresh. This is most worthwhile if you're targeting a specific top-tier character.

Recommended Free ★5 Character

Early in the game you receive a free ★5 Character Exchange Ticket. Use it wisely — this is one of your most important early decisions.

When to use it: Wait until after you've spent all your free gacha tickets and finished your early pulls. Then look at your roster and pick the character that fills the biggest gap.
Available Characters

⭐ Gen Narumi (JSC) — Best Pick

The only permanent ★5 dual-attribute attacker. Both Slash and Shot make him excellent at breaking plates and dealing Core Exposed bonus damage. Strong in boss fights and mob clearing alike.

Kaiju No. 8 (F98)

Completely self-sufficient early — no weapon or unipart farming required. Gains permanent buffs with each action and damage taken. Can taunt enemies and instantly defeats small Kaiju under 50% HP.

Isao Shinomiya (TUIW)

The only permanent ★5 Defender. Shields all allies and provides a teamwide DMG buff. Essential for later stages that require two full parties — won't lose value as your roster grows.

Tips
  • Always pick a new character over a duplicate — later stages require two full parties so roster depth matters more than extra Talent Shards early on.
  • Gen Narumi is the safest pick for most players — his dual attributes cover the widest range of content.
  • Pick Isao if you're struggling to survive — his shields and teamwide DMG buff scale well into late game.
  • Pick Kaiju No. 8 if you have no main Attacker — he requires the least investment to become effective.
📈 Progression & Leveling

Character progression in K8 The Game involves leveling, skill upgrades, weapon equipping, uniparts, and ascension nodes. Focus on your main squad first before branching out.

Character Leveling Priority
  • Level a few characters from each role — teams always need to be changed to fit the needs of the battle. Don't just focus on one main Attacker.
  • Having a leveled Attacker, Defender, and Supporter from the start gives you flexibility across all content types.
  • Use EXP materials only on characters you actively use — don't waste them on bench units early.
Skill Upgrades
  • Check each character's Skill Upgrade Priority on their character page before spending materials.
  • Generally, Passive Skills and Combat Skills provide the most value early.
  • Don't spread skill materials across every character — max out your core squad first.
Ascension Nodes
  • Ascension (A1–A6) significantly boosts a character's power. Prioritize A1 and A2 nodes first as they provide the strongest bonuses.
  • A3 and A5 are Skill Level nodes — unlock these when you have materials to immediately level those skills.
Unlocked Potential is a post-max enhancement system available for select characters. Once a character is fully maxed, this allows further skill and stat upgrades. Currently available for Isao Shinomiya (The Unbreakable Iron Wall), Mina Ashiro (Off the Scale), and Soshiro Hoshina (Hoshina-Style Sword-Slay Technique).
👥 Squad Building

You field a squad of 4 officers. A balanced team is key — you need damage, survivability, and support to handle all content types.

Recommended Starter Composition
Slot 1
Main Attacker (★5)
Slot 2
Sub Attacker
Slot 3
Defender or Support
Slot 4
Healer or Buffer
Attribute Matching
  • Match at least 2 characters' attack types to the Kaiju's weakness for maximum damage.
  • Check the Kaiju's weakness before a battle and swap squad members accordingly.
  • Elemental types (Fire, Ice, Wind, Lightning) deal bonus damage to specific Kaiju.
Synergy Tips
  • Battle Buddy system — some characters have skills that specifically buff or interact with their Battle Buddy (the character positioned next to them). Check character pages for buddy-specific skills.
  • Supporters like Chester and Haruichi Izumo provide universal buffs that boost the whole squad.
  • Pair DoT characters (Burn, Shock, Windbite) together to maximize damage-over-time output.
💎 Gacha & Pulling

Dimensional Crystals are the main gacha currency. Spend them wisely — limited characters return in reruns but good opportunities are still worth saving for.

How to Earn Crystals for Free
  • Story Modes — Main Story, Anime Story, and Memory Stories each award Crystals on first clear.
  • Daily missions — Log in and complete daily tasks every day for a steady trickle.
  • Events — Kaiju Rush, Fierce Battle Area, and limited events are some of the best sources.
  • Player Rank rewards — Each rank-up grants a Crystal bonus.
Smart Pulling Tips
  • Use the Web Shop — Always purchase Crystals from the official web store, not in-game. You get significantly more for the same price.
  • Understand the pity system — Pulls accumulate toward a guaranteed ★5.
  • Save for limited banners — Featured characters on rate-up banners have increased odds. General pool characters appear at any time.
  • Don't impulse pull — If you don't have a specific target, save your Crystals.
Web Shop link: webstore.kj8-thegame.com — Always check here before purchasing Crystals. The value difference compared to in-game purchases is significant.

⚔️ Combat Basics

K8 The Game uses a turn-based combat system centered around exposing and exploiting the Kaiju's core. Understanding these fundamentals will carry you through all content.

The Core System
  • Every Kaiju has a hidden core. Use skills that match the Kaiju's weakness attribute to expose it.
  • When the core is exposed, the Kaiju takes significantly increased damage.
  • Save your Ultimate attacks for when the core is exposed — this is when they deal full damage.
  • The core exposure window is limited — coordinate your squad's turn order to maximize damage during it.
SP (Skill Points)
  • SP is shared across your squad and spent on Combat Skills.
  • Basic Normal Attacks are free — skills cost SP.
  • Manage SP carefully — don't burn it all early if you'll need it for a key skill later in the fight.
  • Some characters and skills generate SP or reduce costs — check character pages for details.
PLT (Plates)
  • Kaiju have PLT (Plates) that must be destroyed to fully expose the core.
  • Certain attack types are more effective at destroying specific PLT types.
  • Destroying PLT also charges your Ultimate Gauge, so Normal Attacks on PLT are never wasted.
For more detail on elements, damage types, ailments, debuffs, and advanced combat mechanics — check the Combat Guide.
🔧 Weapons & Uniparts

Equipping the right weapon and uniparts can dramatically boost a character's performance. Always check the recommended loadout on each character's page.

Weapons
  • Each character uses a specific weapon type — they cannot equip weapons outside their type.
  • ★5 weapons provide the strongest bonuses. Prioritize getting the recommended weapon for your main Attacker first.
  • Check the Weapons & Best Users page for a full list of who uses what.
  • Exception: Kaiju No. 8 variants cannot equip weapons — their power comes entirely from skills and ascension.
Uniparts
  • Uniparts are equipment pieces that provide stat bonuses based on set effects.
  • Follow the Stat Priority listed on each character's page when choosing uniparts (e.g. ATK > CRIT DMG > SPD).
  • Set bonuses activate when you equip multiple pieces of the same type — aim for full sets on your main units.
