Your overall progression rank. Raising it unlocks higher character level caps, new content, and shop items — but also makes story Kaiju harder.

🎖️ What is Spec-Ops Rank? // Overview ▼

Spec-Ops Rank is your overall progression rank, separate from Player Rank. It is raised by clearing Promotion Exams — special missions that unlock once you hit a required Player Rank. There are currently 4 Spec-Ops Ranks.

📈 How to Raise Spec-Ops Rank // Steps ▼
  • Raise your Player Rank — Earn Player EXP through Story Mode (100 EXP per combat stage, free), Daily Missions (up to 1,000 EXP/day), and spending Stamina.
  • Unlock the Promotion Exam — Once you hit the required Player Rank, a Special Request unlocks. Go to Home → Special Requests to find it.
  • Read the unlock message — Check your inbox for the notice. Read it to the end for Dimensional Crystals ×20.
  • Clear the Promotion Exam — Defeat waves of Kaiju. Their level scales with the exam. Clearing it raises your Spec-Ops Rank.
  • Claim rewards & read follow-up — After clearing, read the follow-up message for another Dimensional Crystals ×20.
Tip: Don't rush Promotion Exams. The level cap increase only matters when you have the materials to actually level characters to the new cap.

Promotion Exam 1

Raises character level cap from 40 → 70. Unlocks Spec-Ops Rank 2 and the Spec-Ops Rank II Pack in the Shop.

Enemy weakness: Shot and Physical (Common) plates.

Recommended level: 40+

Clearable with a well-built 4-star squad. Gen Narumi (multi-PLT reduction) and Rin Shinonome (AoE) are very effective.

DIFFICULTY: EASY

Promotion Exam 2

Raises character level cap from 70 → 90. Unlocks Spec-Ops Rank 3 and the Spec-Ops Rank III Pack in the Shop.

Enemy weakness: Blunt, Elemental, and Common plates.

Recommended level: 70+

Notably harder than Exam 1. Bring Blunt and Elemental characters. Kaiju No. 8 (Fortitude 9.8) is a strong pick.

DIFFICULTY: MEDIUM

Promotion Exam 3

Raises character level cap from 90 → 100. Unlocks Spec-Ops Rank 4.

Unlock requirement: Player Rank 40

Recommended level: 90+

All Kaiju are Level 90 and hit very hard. Bring at least 1–2 fully leveled characters with strong Uniparts and Weapons. Include a Defender to absorb damage and a Supporter to buff.

  • Higher Character & Weapon Level Cap — Each rank raises the reinforcement cap for both characters and weapons.
  • Expedition Shop unlocks — Blue Unipart Materials unlock at Rank 2, Purple Unipart Materials at Rank 3.
  • Harder Training missions — Higher Spec-Ops Rank unlocks more difficult Training stages with better material rewards.
  • Spec-Ops Rank Packs — Paid shop packs unlock at Rank 2 and 3 containing Dimensional Crystals and upgrade materials.
  • Dimensional Crystals — ×20 from reading the unlock message and ×20 from reading the post-clear message for each exam.
